Nils Bergeson

Regional Director of Central & West Africa
Nils Bergeson is the Africa Regional Director for the Stirling Foundation. Prior to joining the Foundation, Nils spent most of his career as an international development professional with USAID. His assignments abroad have included Colombia, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Indonesia (as USAID Representative to the Association for Southeast Asian Nations), and Uganda. Previously he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Romania and as a missionary in Russia. He has experience both working in government and in the non-profit sector and is passionate about international development, global education, and global connections. He has overseen hundreds of development projects across multiple sectors, including projects in economic growth, education, health, environment, good governance, and humanitarian assistance.

Nils graduated from Utah State University with a degree in International Relations and later earned a Master’s of Public Administration from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. He lives with his wife, Emily, and their five children in Provo, Utah.
