Dave & Lori Orton
Country Managers of the Middle East
Dave and Lori Orton spent 25 years living in non‑Christian developing nations—including Thailand, Egypt, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan—during Dave’s international assignments with ExxonMobil. After earning an MBA from BYU, Dave worked for 35 years managing ExxonMobil’s international operations, primarily as CFO and a Director of local affiliates. His work required regular interaction with partners, vendors, auditors, customers, and government officials, giving him a clear understanding of local cultures and business practices. ExxonMobil also supported humanitarian efforts in each country, often partnering with NGOs such as Save the Children.
Lori attended BYU and graduated from what is now Utah Valley University. While living overseas, she raised their four children and held leadership roles in community, charitable, and nonprofit organizations. Her work abroad helped her develop strong cross‑cultural communication skills and the ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.
Dave and Lori have served two missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints. Their first was a 30‑month Public Affairs mission in Los Angeles, working with the LA Diplomatic Corps and with business, government, and religious leaders. Their responsibilities included coordinating with consulates from developing nations to identify humanitarian needs and working with the Church’s Humanitarian Department on related projects. Their second mission involved establishing a Community Resource Center in South Provo as part of My Hometown, a pilot program created in partnership with Provo City to support neighborhood revitalization. The program’s success has led to similar efforts in other Utah cities.
Dave and Lori live in Provo and have four children and (soon to be) fifteen grandchildren.
