Senegalese President Promotes Global Economic Cooperation
Senegal
“Thanks to President Sall’s leadership and engagement, Senegal is poised to become a strong strategic partner with Utah, not just on bilateral trade and investment opportunities but on a range of important issues.” - Jonathan Freedman, World Trade Center Utah president & CEO
Former President of the Republic of Senegal Macky Sall traveled to Utah as a featured speaker at the Crossroads of the World Summit. The Stirling Foundation developed additional programming for President Sall’s first trip to Utah to foster cooperation and increase engagement on a range of issues, including trade, higher education, philanthropy, and interfaith collaboration. Having concluded his presidency just one month earlier, President Sall met with key governmental and community leaders, including Governor Spencer Cox, university presidents, business executives, and interfaith leaders. President Sall’s visit launched significant collaboration between various Utah-based organizations and Senegal, leading to multiple engagements and several new joint initiatives that are supporting economic development, improving education, increasing interfaith collaboration, and strengthening health in Senegal and other countries in the region.
